Hello,

I am thinking of dropping one of Sid's gathering professions for something that can be used to buff his Prot pallyness. I was going to go engineering but since I got the ZA headpiece I am less keen. Current favorite is Jewel Crafting as I have good rep with some of the fractions who give plans and I can get some nice Trinkets from it.

e.g http://www.wowhead.com/?item=35700

anyone got any thoughts on this ?

cheers

If you do go the route of gem crafting just make sure Sid or an active alt is a miner.

hmmmz,

I'm not overly enthousiastic about JC-ing, mainly because Blizz managed to f*ck up the pattern drops..

However the trinkets look good and maybe it is useful.

I myself am a master mace bs. (gotta love big blunt objects)

Not that usefull I admit but there are some very nice bs tonk patterns for pallies around.

Yeah Celtic is Blacksmith and has decent Boots, Bracers and Belt from it however if you are tanking in ZA and 25 man raids then they will get replaced pretty rapidly and the ones from Badges rewards aren't that much worse. However Celtic does have the uber 2h mace so when WotLK comes I'll be smashing open many can of undead whoopass with it.

The trinkets are very good and the BoP stam gems can do no harm.

Yeah sid is a miner/herb at the moment - I looked in BS but the craftable stuff didnt seem that compeling or wasnt BOP - e.g the belt of the guardian. And I have ZA boots already - the bracers might be nice tho. No idea what the weapons are like . The thing about JC'ing is that at present you can craft the trinkets and drop JCing and still use them if you want which is interesting if I need to swop to a new talent in WoTLK or if I get better trinkets and want to change.

Money is just not a problem these days so spending 1000G or even 2000 to get the skills is fine as you can always get more money.

I dont know what to do basically I will need a lvl 70 character to be a herbologist and one to be miner.

Currently

Cowl is 375 tailor and alchemst - I cannot drop the alchemy its tooooo useful.

Sid is 375 miner/herb.

So if sid drops herb to get JC - the Cowl needs to drop tailoring to pick up herbology really.

My other alt is lvl 60 and hence wont be able to collect herbs. I am worried about dropping Tailoring on Cowl as there are some nice patterns dropping at the moment in the 25mans and WotLK is coming - aahhhhh stuck need more lvl 70s.

The jewelcrafting trinkets are very good (on par or better than SSC/TK drops). The defensive trinket can help you out getting to your uncrushability cap, the spell dmg trinket has a nice on use spell dmg bonus and decent stamina.

The gems are nothing special to do it for though, if you take JC do it for the trinkets.

What about engineering? it's easy to level and the helmet you get is comparable to T6 drops. And you even can make an offspec healing hat. Then again, you already got the ZA hat so it's not that big of an upgrade.

yeah that was my thoughts on Engineering, a lot of cash for not much reward - I might lvl JC get the trinkets and drop it again. Think I will start grinding mithril and thorium as there crazy expsenive on the AH - when I have a load I will go JC all the way to 375 in a day.

You might want to consider alchemy, you can get a lot of defence or a lot spelldamage with it. Alchemy is cheap to lvl and the transmutes are an easy way to earn a bit gold.

cowl is already a Flask Alchemist - I will be keeping that

Basically its

Cowl ---- Flask Alchemist / spellfire Tailor
Sid ---- Miner / Herb
Lilath ---- Enchanter / JC (for prospecting)

Lilath is only lvl 60 and I dont think I can stand lvling her at the moment.

Well gone JC for sid - working thru the 100-150 grind at the moment - I forgot how much JCing is an arse to grind thru but I am getting there - then I will have the fun of grinding Herbology back up - god this game is hard work :)
