Two interesting things I have picked up from the Elitist Jerks Warlock posts.

1. Quote from EJ "Regarding Malediction: I read the talent as increasing the damage dealt by all your spells by 3%, nothing to do with the spellpower statistic. I really don't know why you people are expecting a spellpower increase. I'll be back in a few minutes with some testing.

EDIT: Confirmed. Three points in malediction made corruption jump from 549 to 565 per tick, and immolate jump from 561-2 to 578 initial damage. 3% of 561-2 is 16.8 or so, within expectation. 3% of 549 is 16.5, 565 is within expectation. Working As Intended. Also of note: this is strictly superior to 3% spellpower, since it's exactly equal to 3% spellpower plus 3% base damage."

Very nice indeed and should encourage more Malediction point spend.

2. Chaos Bolt is effectively comprised of ALL schools of maigc but in particular it is also classed as PHYSICAL damage. I wnoder if this means it is buffed by anything that boosts physical?

a noodle scratcher but if its buffed by magic and phisical it will be too good imo

Just because it's physical does not mean that it gets increased by all physical increasing buffs. If it ignores armour then that's most of the physical buffs out of the window, the only thing that'll really buff it is the ms warrior/combat rogue's 2% extra physical damage

@Silverlight: Envenom does the same thing, being a physical move with a non-physical damage component, this is a spell with a physical damage component. envenom is buffed by enh shaman's spell debuff and shadowweaving.

I think the main reason they put it in the physical school is because that way it won't be affected by any spell resistances, clos, etc.

Ahhhh of course it will make sure the spell gives maximum benefit against CloS. Hmmmm wootage indeed

Well, it's not just CloS but i'm thinking that by making Chaos Bolt a physical effect that ignores armour it'd basically bypass any resistances and any kind of physical absorption effect like armour. Only thing that'd work against it this way would be a paladin's bubble (Not BoP mind you) or cyclone, basically any full immunity ability.

I assumed any full immunity would nt be pierced but CloS more than makes up for it
